Many previous Spider-Man titles have been a bit disappointing in the past
during the 16-bit era. You always thought to yourself that it's missing
something but you can't put your finger on it. Neversoft has released its
version of wall crawler, and game will not be disappointing at all. It
features the classic theme song from the original Spidey cartoon from the
60's and as well as the original voices from Fox's hit cartoon show which
unfortunately had to be finished off so soon. Nonetheless, it features a
wide array of special guest appearances such as The Daredevil, Human Torch,
Venom, Black Cat and many more with as well a villain line-up like Rhino,
Mysterio, Scorpion and others. Also there wouldn't be a Spider-Man game
without his famous one-liners that he's always known for.
Controlling Spider-Man isn't quite so easy, but Neversoft has made a
mode which will allow you to practice using him under different situations
like it would be in the actual game play. The learning process of the game
takes at least a half hour to learn the controls real good. Also for the younger audience, if you are still having problems using the wall crawler or if your young and not quite familiar with the controls, the game includes Kid Mode, a nifty feature which the controls will be easier to use and handle throughout the game. My favorite feature of the game is the ability of using your web crawling abilities such as web swinging, and tying up bad guys. Not only can you use these features for this you can also use your web for making a little barrier to protect yourself from many villains, which will later then explode, and web boxing gloves to enhance you punching abilities for a short amount of time.
The storyline is excellent. You are at a Science Expo which is celebrated by
Dr. Otto Octavius, or how other know him by Dr. Octopus, has made his debt
society by making inventions for the good of man. Later on you see a
Spidey-Hoax robs one of his invention and frames you into a crime that you
didn't do and the city becomes plagued in some type of gas. It's up to you
save the city and prove your innocence to society. As you play into the game
you will get deeper into the story and you will find out who is the cause of
this. The game play itself is fun and it is not that discouraging at all.
This would be one of the games you would not be tired of. The graphics on
this game is excellent and the 3-D engine is borrowed from Neversoft's
previous game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, which makes it look even more amazing
on Spider-Man. The game play plus the surrounding 3-D environment makes this
a great game, but the only thing I'm disappointed with is the camera angle.
It gets a little bit annoying when you are playing the game but you get used
to it after a while.
One of my favorite features of the game is special mode, which
when you are ahead of the game, or when you beat the game, you will have the
option to wear other costumes that Spider-man wore in his serious.
my favorite one is his old symbiote costume. Also throughout the game you
will encounter old comic covers will you will get you look at a brief
description of that particular issue. There is also a storyboard and movie
viewer. The storyboard mode lets you view how the game was originally made
and the movie viewer is a collection of cinemas you see in different parts
Overall, this is one of the best Spider-Man games that I have played; it has
almost what everybody wanted, except including web shooters with the game.
Other than that I definitely recommend this way, and if I were you I'd swing
my way right your to your video game store and sling a copy of your friendly
